Lilly Pulitzer Inspired Wedding

Keeping with the theme of alliteration (I started out the week with "Music Monday"), here's a little "Throwback Thursday"...

Stephanie and Michael's wedding took place last July at the Magnolia Plantation Carriage House.  This wedding was anything but dull.  In fact, it was an adorable, colorful, Lilly Pulitzer inspired wedding and reception!  As a born and bred southern girl, I love me some Lilly Pulitzer!  Stephanie and Michael did this theme right with DIY accents and personal touches.

How adorable are these pink and green lanterns?!

This adorable banner is to die for!

Guests loved the unexpected color scheme!

The sweets table filled with pink and green candy!

This picture drawn by Stephanie's daughter is the cutest!

I love the idea of koozies at weddings!  It is a great thing for guests to take home and remember your wedding by.

Music Monday Vol. 2

Just in case you need a little music cheer to brighten your Monday...  This video is courtesy of your's truly (please excuse my terrible videography), and it comes from Martha Little and James Lowe's wedding on Sunday at The Island House on John's Island.  Quiana Parler and Friends were the amazing band that played throughout the night!  Here's a video of Quiana and some of the wedding guests getting down and partying like it is 1999!

Meet: Associate Savannah Johnson

I am so excited to take over the blog for a day and FINALLY introduce our lovely associate planner {and blogging queen I may add} Savannah Johnson! Savannah has been working for CFD since January 2012, started as an intern, and has quickly moved her way to associate planner. I figured it was time for you to get to know the girl behind the blog, so here’s a little fun information about Miss Johnson…Q & A Style!

Photo: Marie Rodriguez Photography
What’s one word you’d use to describe your style? - Preppy
Traditional wedding cake or dessert table? - Wedding cake
Favorite fashion accessory - Pearls
My color this fall is… Red. I just bought a couple pairs of red pants, so red it is!
Biggest turnoff at a wedding – Bad music! Not kidding, I once attended a wedding and Disney tunes played throughout dinner! When it was time for the dance party to start, Justin Bieber tunes took over. It was hilarious/tragic.
I can’t live without my…. Pink Mac Book oh, wait no, my Lily Pulitzer planner!
Peonies or succulents? - Peonies
In my downtime I like to… watch SEC football
Bojangles or Au Bon Pain? – Bojangles or what?
You should know I… spend wayyyy too much time on Pinterest
Best thing about being in the wedding industry – I like that everyone’s event is special on its own. It’s not generic and it’s a once in a lifetime moment.

Music Monday!

Today marks the launching of our "Music Monday" blog!  Every Monday we will be posting about different songs, first dance options, new bands we hear about, and more.  Music adds so much personality to an event, and at Carolina Food Design we love music and everything about it!

Since we're based here in South Carolina, I thought it would only be appropriate to start Music Monday off with some music and a dance that is native to our state...the Carolina Shag!  Any song with a strong beat is great for shagging, but the dance is usually accompanied with Beach music.  This type of music is a great way to introduce a relaxed, yet uplifting mood to any event!

I hope you enjoy this video of an adorable young couple dancing in a Shag Dance Competition!

Gossip Girl Wedding in Charleston

Hey Charlestonians,

We hear Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds tied the knot here in Charleston this past Sunday night!  The wedding was held at the Cotton Dock at Boone Hall.  The event was planned by a local wedding planner, and the catering was provided by Fig, a local restaurant.  Other than these couple details, not much is known about the surprise wedding, but as soon as we get some more deets we'll fill y'all in!

The Cotton Dock is a beautiful area right on the water in Boone Hall.  It has a very rustic and barn vibe, but there's so many different options for decor in this venue.  Here are a few pictures we found online of events at the Cotton Dock!

This venue has a beautiful view of the water!

Waterfront is a PERFECT romantic ceremony site.

This is a beautiful use of lighting makes the mood more romantic.

The hearth is a focal point of the room.  It would look amazing with lots of votives to give it some more light and warmth!

Until next time when we have more details about Blake and Ryan...xoxo,
Carolina Food Design

Father-Daughter Dance Songs

Today, as a follow up to last week's blog, I'll be focusing on some of my top choices of father-daughter dance songs!  Fathers and daughters have a distinctive bond, and I always find their dance very special.  Sometimes the fathers get emotional and show faint signs of sadness when ceremonially letting their little girl go during this dance.  Other fathers use this dance to celebrate the giant step their daughter has taken with the man she loves.  Regardless of if your dance is an emotional one or a fun, celebratory one, the father-daughter dance is a very important part of your wedding.  So, here are a few of my favorite father-daughter dance songs!  Enjoy!
Isn't She Lovely- Stevie Wonder
The sentiment of this song is so sweet!

I Loved Her First- Heartland
A little bit of country music for our rustic-themed weddings!

Daughters- John Mayer
I just love anything John Mayer sings!

Brown Eyed Girl- Van Morrison
My personal favorite!  As a brown eyed girl, I've always planned on dancing to this song with my dad.

Comment below and tell us some of your favorite choices!
